TOTAL IMMERSION SWIM CLINICS: The Total Immersion (TI) approach to swimming has been successfully adopted by thousands of people.. triathletes as well as people just wanting to become better swimmers. The TI approach is to use the whole body to move in a streamlined and balanced way -- "like a fish". There will be two Total Immersion swim clinics offered at Multisport World 2010: TI Efficiency-Tuner Clinic and TI Speed-Tuner Clinic
TI Efficiency-Tuner Clinic: Over 80% of your success and performance in swimming are determined by your efficiency. Triathletes, on average, are less than 5% energy-efficient (i.e. less than 5% of your "horsepower" converts into forward propulsion). Efficiency in swimming is a combination of (1) minimized drag or water resistance by "reshaping your vessel" into longer and sleeker body lines and re-thinking your stroke; and (2) making sure every stroke moves your body forward rather than moving water back.
This 60-minute clinic will introduce you to three specific "Stroke Thoughts" that will increase your efficiency. You will be able to measure the efficiency gains produced by each Stroke Thought. This class typically produces an efficiency increase of 10%-20% in 60 minutes. CLICK HERE for more info and to register.
TI Speed Tuner Clinic: In triathlon swimming (or any swimming lasting over a minute for that matter), speed is not a function of velocity. It's a function of sustainability -- your ability to hold a consistent pace without fatigue. You can do this by (1) learning to make your current pace so easy that it becomes impossible not to swim faster; and (2) learning to take strokes of unbreakable effectiveness at incrementally-faster tempos. This 60 minute clinic will teach you how to optimize your combination of Stroke Length and Stroke Rate so that speed happens without having to work harder. CLICK HERE for more info and to register.

IMPROVING TRIATHLON SPEED: SPORT SPECIFIC MECHANICS Presented by elite/pro level triathlon coach Jesse Kropelnicki, founder of QT2 Systems, this 90 minute workshop will review the benefits of better sport mechanics for swimming, cycling and running. This review will be specific to triathlon, and will include interactive analysis of previous videos captured by Coach Jesse. The workshop will be a combination of presentation and real world examples via video and by attending you will learn:
- How the implementation of proper sport mechanics which will lead to improved speed and fewer injuries in all three sports. This is free speed, so don’t pass it up!
- A real world understanding of why certain postures or positions are advantageous. Stop guessing at why you should have a “high elbow” on the swim, or a “high cadence” running.
- How improved cycling mechanics/position will lead to more comfort, better aerodynamics and faster times on the bike and how these positions should be balanced with your ability to run well off the bike.
- The importance/relevance of video analysis in the sport of triathlon and why this is the absolute best way to assess sport mechanics. Walk away with a better understanding of body mechanics with Jesse’s video examples.
This 90 minute workshop will begin at 2:30PM. CLICK HERE for more info and to register now.
